waste management

Waste is anything that does not add value to us or to the client.

We all have varying levels of waste in our operations. To remain competitive, we need to do something about managing our waste.

Our work can be split into three categories:

  • Adding Value- this is what the client pays for
  • Enabling Value - activities that make it possible for us to deliver the value - from the necessary paperwork, health and safety, welfare and other support functions that allows the job to happen effectively
  • Waste - activities that no one want or willing to pay for - bureaucracy, wrangling, snags, delays mistakes and so on.

The three diagrams below show possible ways to split of our work - What is the split of values and wastes in your project? where are you now and where do you want to be?
