From our experiences during piloting and implementations, we recommend the Flip-over
Easel presentation format for Tool Box Talks.

Most of the Tool Box Talk come with guidance on
its use in PDF-format files:
Preparing to give Tool Box Talk
Project Sus'd Tool Box Talks are just like any other Tool Box Talk
we reckon:
- it's more colourful, more fun;
- everyone gets to participate (instead of just listening!);
- there may be more than 1 right answer to each waste problem;
and
- everyone's experiences and opinions are valuable and everyone
can contribute to the Tool Box Talk.
We have prepared a checklist (based on CITB guidance) to help
you prepare your Tool Box Talk. Find out more.
Using the Flip-over Presentations
The cartoons on the front are
designed to show either something that is often encountered on
site or suggested good practice. the reverse of the cartoon offers
suggestions and hints to start a discussion.
The cartoons are placed in a "flip-over" or presentation easel folder.
The side facing the team is usually reproduced to A3 in size and the reverse
side for the supervisor or trainer can be in A4 size but A3 is preferred.
An example of the front and reverse sides of a Tool Box Talk is
shown below.

Making Up your own Flip-Over Tool Box Talk set
The following is a description of how we make up these Tool Box
Talk sets. This is based on UK/EU paper sizes and stationery
items available in the UK. You may have different sizes where
you work.
1. Components:
A3 size (297×420mm) Flipover Display Easel - Use a Landscape layout (see
below)
A3 size (297x420mm) clear plastic sleeves - landscape layout-
with punched holes
A3 size (297x420mm) size printed Tool Box Talk sheets (both
front and back pages)
2. Inserts:
Print the PDF files or the Powerpoint slides to A3 size (-
colour printing is recommended)
3. Inserting the sheets:
Remember the order of insertion. The
supervisor's first hint sheet comes BEFORE the first sheet
for the operatives!
4. General use:
It is recommended that several sets be made
up for each construction office. One set can be kept with the
Coordinator, the others can then booked out to Supervisors
for Tool Box Talks. |
