About Project Susd

Project Sus'd

This page is about implementing Project Sus'd at your project site. As you can tell from this CD/website, Project Sus'd can be a fairly involved programme of activities. However, you can also implement just the individual elements of Project Sus'd rather than go for the whole lot.

We reckon you will get the full benefits with the full implementation, but you can make a difference with any of the tools.

Below we have a full implementation programme as well as suggested individual element or groups of elements you can implement separately.

Implementing Project Sus'd - the Works

Implementing the full Project Sus'd

  1. Define Expectations - once you defined what you expect to achieve, you can then set targets and also set up ways to measure the gains.

  2. Partnership building - a partnership does not happen just because you want one. You need to get on with planning, building and managing the partnership.

  3. Training - this is both to train-the-trainer(s) and to train people at the project site.

  4. The Training programme - for senior project managers, for the induction and for everyone working on site.

  5. Waste Spotting / Management - after the training, everyone on site will be encourage to spot problems and this process needs to be managed.

  6. Solving Problems - part of the training is about solving problems. The problem solving process is the core to managing waste. (By the way, the methods recommended in Project Sus'd will be applicable in any construction, business, social and personal circumstances.)

  7. Implementing Solutions - you need to manage the process where the ideas for improvement becomes mini-projects for improvement.

  8. Acknowledgement and Reward - you need to put in place a mechanism where ideas and action planning for improvements are acknowledge and rewarded in a suitable manner. This is linked to the partnership programme set up and also helps raise motivation at the project site.

  9. Measure Gains and Improve Effectiveness - at this stage, you focus on measuring the gains from the improvement activities and check these against targets.
